Chief Executive Officer
Rory Field is a barrister with 37 years’ experience working in the field of law and of international finance. He has run the prosecution service in two separate jurisdictions most recently in Bermuda. He has also led on providing programmes to fight organised crime in the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) within the Balkans. He has wide experience in justice reform and in training and development of senior professionals. He has delivered presentations throughout the world on areas relating to fighting complex crime, such as combating corruption. He is experienced with working with international organisations and governments to fund projects and maximise efficiency in program delivery. He is an ADRg qualified Civil and Commercial Mediator.
Chief Operating Officer
Anthony Monckton has 37 years’ experience of working for government both in the military and the Diplomatic Service. He has extensive experience in the Balkans. His recent experience of Central Europe, based in Vienna, was at the forefront of issues of security sector reform. He has managed complex cross-jurisdiction investigations. As a former head of Learning and Development in the Foreign Office he focused on leadership development, coaching and assessment. As Head of Analysis in the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre he trained analysts and was at the cutting edge of analysis theory and practice. He is an ADRg qualified Civil and Commercial Mediator. He speaks Serbian, French and German.
Head of Investigations
Edward Allen has multi-jurisdictional experience in competitive commercial intelligence covering business investigations, political risk and security analysis. Edward specialises in managing international research projects and human source inquiries. Prior to ViennEast, he managed a private intelligence unit in Basra, Iraq, working with the Iraqi Army to provide tactical intelligence to International Oil Companies. Edward was previously the Arabic Editor at the UK Government’s Media Monitoring Unit and worked on counter-terrorism and radicalisation issues with various London-based think tanks. He has a BA and MA in Arabic with Islamic History from Oxford University and also speaks Italian, French, and basic German.
Head of Research and Analysis
Marcus How is the head of research and analysis. He studied at the University of Nottingham and Kings College London, ultimately obtaining a Masters in International Political Economy. He has seven years of experience in the political risk sector, which included working at a leading information consultancy in London. He is specialised in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) generally but with particular expertise in Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Ukraine. He is also fluent in German.
Maximilian Kratschke did a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) and subsequently a PhD in Neuroscience at Edinburgh University. Max has worked on a wide range of research projects and his interests are centred around the prevention of corruption and adherence to the rule of law in the EU. He speaks English and German.
Emilie is working as a research assistant for ViennEast and using this experience to broaden her understanding of CEE regional politics and development. She is also currently studying law at the University of Vienna and previously interned at the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) and the Alliance of NGOs on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. Emilie speaks English, German, French and basic Russian.
